Menara Binjai is a 32-storey Grade A office tower rising along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Developed by the Chua family on the grounds of their former private home, the project reflects a thoughtful continuity between legacy and modernity.

The tower’s signature design features a series of triple-volume sky gardens cascading up the north-facing façade, culminating in a lush rooftop garden that opens to panoramic views of the KLCC skyline. These sky gardens are enclosed by a permeable glass screen — an innovative “breathable skin” that allows prevailing breezes to flow through while buffering against monsoon rains. This creates a semi-outdoor “urban verandah,” allowing occupants to engage with the tropical climate, in contrast to conventional sealed office environments.

Despite spatial constraints, the landscape strategy focused on maximizing green presence through impactful perimeter planting, vertical greenery, and strategic softscape interventions. Green elements were carefully curated to create a breathable environment, soften the tower’s urban edge, and reinforce a sustainable image. The design not only supports green building certification aspirations but also enhances the building’s visual and environmental appeal to prospective tenants. This compact yet effective landscape approach demonstrates how greenery can thrive and elevate experience even within limited urban footprints.
