DISCIPLINES
The Bruas House is located within the leafy residential enclave of Bukit Damansara, set on a rectangular site that gently slopes away from the street. The project responds to its topography and surroundings through a carefully calibrated approach to privacy and orientation.
ARCHITECTURE
The natural change in level across the site is embraced as a key design driver, allowing the house to progressively open toward the rear while maintaining a composed, private frontage to the street. A neighboring clearway and the distant presence of a school inform both the orientation and permeability of the plan, enabling openness where appropriate and enclosure where required.
The house is organized around a C-shaped courtyard that functions as the spatial and social nucleus of the home. This central void draws daylight deep into the interior and establishes strong visual connections across living spaces. All principal rooms are oriented toward the courtyard allowing for layered views. The result is a house that is both responsive to its context and quietly attuned to the rhythms of domestic life.
