DISCIPLINES
The MRT Kajang Line in Klang Valley, spanning 51 km with 31 stations—24 elevated and 7 underground—serves as a vital artery in Kuala Lumpur’s public transportation network. VERITAS was entrusted to define the architectural and landscape identity across these MRT stations. Each station reflects a unique theme inspired by its location, blending functionality with cultural narratives to create a cohesive and contextually rich transit experience.
ARCHITECTURE
Connecting Sungai Buloh in the north to Kajang across the city. The Kajang Line integrates with KTM Komuter, LRT Ampang Line, and LRT Kelana Jaya Line, enhancing the connectivity of Greater KL. VERITAS’ design approach incorporates modular construction techniques to meet the project’s fast-track schedule, ensuring efficiency without compromising on architectural integrity. The result is a transit line that not only facilitates commute but also tells the story of Kuala Lumpur’s rich urban landscape.
We led the full architectural design scope of all stations, ensuring each structure resonates with its surroundings while maintaining a unified aesthetic across the line. The underground stations are particularly noteworthy for their thematic designs derived from local context. These architectural expressions are not merely decorative but serve to enhance the passenger experience, cultivating a sense of place and cultural appreciation.
Inspired by the concept of Transition, Muzium Negara Station bridges heritage and modernity through its design language. Inspired by the National Museum’s role as a custodian of history, the station juxtaposes motifs drawn from traditional artifacts with contemporary materials and clean, modern lines. This interplay reflects the site’s unique context—where the nation’s archival past meets the surrounding network of progressive, future-driven infrastructure.
Echoing the district’s Dynamic spirit, Bukit Bintang Station translates urban vibrancy into a bold architectural expression. The energetic red trapezoidal feature wall becomes a visual anchor, capturing the motion, nightlife, and constant flux of the area. Its sharp geometry and striking colour palette evoke the pulse of the city’s commercial and cultural heart.
Guided by the theme of Independence, Merdeka Station integrates patriotic symbolism into its spatial and material composition. The station’s design pays tribute to Malaysia’s journey toward sovereignty through curated imagery, refined surfaces, and the engraved principles of the Rukun Negara. These elements create a contemplative environment that connects commuters with the nation’s historical and ideological foundations.
Rooted in the idea of Confluence, Pasar Seni Station draws from its placement at the meeting point of the Klang and Gombak rivers. The design interprets this convergence through layered textures and a visual narrative that mirrors Kuala Lumpur’s multicultural fabric. The station becomes a spatial metaphor for the city’s diverse origins and the continuous blending of its communities.
LANDSCAPE
VERITAS Landscape provided landscape consultancy for the transformative MRT line, shaping the external environments to strengthen and elevate each station’s architectural identity. Our scope encompasses the design of station forecourts, arrival/drop-off zones, green buffers, and perimeter softscape treatments—crafted to establish a cohesive, intuitive, and welcoming transit realm. The landscape strategy prioritises accessibility, visual continuity, and climate-adaptive planting, ensuring that the outdoor spaces not only complement the urban infrastructure but also reinforce the MRT’s vision of a resilient, people-centred mobility network.
